Welcome to IOPO, the Indiana Organ Procurement Organization!
We are a non-profit health service dedicated to:
- Advancing organ, tissue, and eye donation throughout Indiana.
- Caring for the families of organ, tissue, and eye donors as their loved ones give the gift of life.
- Coordinating the teams of surgeons, hospitals, and recovery partners as they recover organs and tissues from those who have given so selflessly at their death so others may live.
- Providing and coordinating education both to the public and to medical professionals about organ and tissue donation throughout the state.
- Working to increase the number of people in the state who decide to register as an organ, tissue, and eye donors.
- Coordinating communication between donor families and recipients when desired.
In honor of more than 1000 Hoosiers who are currently waiting for a hero to give the gift of life, IOPO is pleased to provide this comprehensive website where you can learn about about organ, tissue and eye donation.
Donor families, organ recipients and people waiting for transplants realize there are no guarantees in life. So make the most of each day. Live life fully, and consider being a life giving hero by becoming an organ, tissue, and eye donor.
